Auditing
Whether you require an audit due to the size of your business or by your shareholders or constitution, we will ensure that you will benefit from a robust review of your accounting records and systems.
Your business will profit from the confidence and reassurance that your accounts are fully compliant, that your accounting processes and procedures are appropriate and that system weaknesses and improvements are identified to help reduce business risks.
Our experienced auditors will work as part of your team, allowing you to gain from their knowledge about business trends in your sector and in the wider economy.
Although our audit service is delivered annually, we are available throughout the year to discuss issues as they arise and, by maintaining regular contact, we ensure there are no surprises at the year end.
During the audit process we often involve some of our other specialist teams, such as VAT, payroll and corporate finance, to provide input to the process to ensure any issues are dealt with timorously.
External Audit
- Statutory Audit
All entities, including companies, limited liability partnerships and charities, that meet certain criteria, such as being above a certain size or of public interest, are required by law to have their financial statements audited. Others for various reasons, including agreement with shareholders to fulfill financing requirements, may also require an audit.
At ZWA we work hard to develop a deep understanding of each of our clients, allowing us to not just look at the numbers but to explore their implication on the business. Every audit we deliver is bespoke to each client, allowing us to provide proactive advice around the issues they face.
- Non Statutory Audit
Businesses may require an audit report on financial statements which do not fall under the requirements of a statutory audit under the Kenya Companies Act.
Such reports could be on areas such as:
- Competence of a set of financial statements prepared in accordance with the basis of accounting.
- Particular provisions of a contractual agreement such as loan agreement
- Internal controls over financial reporting processes
Our report will provide an independent opinion on these aspects to meet regulatory and other stakeholder requirements
Internal Auditing
Internal Audit has always been one of the cornerstones of good corporate governance. However, increased regulation, greater public scrutiny and increased globalization have seen the importance of an effective internal audit function enhanced at Board, Audit Committee and Executive level.
Zack Wanjama CPAK and Company Associates’ Risk and Advisory Services (RAS) specialists offer global Internal Audit services as a key source of independent assurance and advice over the quality of internal control, risk and governance frameworks.
We are a dedicated team of Internal Audit specialists offering objective support across the full spectrum of internal control assurance requirements:
Out-sourcing – as a fully outsourced provider of Internal Audit, we provide a solution to assurance which includes the development and implementation of a risk based Internal Audit Programme of work. We work closely with Boards (typically via the Audit Committee) and management to develop a Programme of work which takes account of the strategic direction and associated risks of the business. As such, we act as a fundamental source of assurance over the quality of risk management, internal control and governance arrangements.
Co-sourcing – we work in partnership with in-house Internal Audit teams and Heads of Internal Audit to assist in the delivery of Internal Audit plans. This support includes provision of Internal Audit specialists for specific reviews where the in-house team may require expert advice, additional resource to help deliver ambitious plans or to cover for staff absence, or secondments, and project management expertise.
Bespoke internal control reviews – in instances where a dedicated Internal Audit function has not yet been introduced, we are able to deliver assurance over specific aspects / risks to your business through individual internal control reviews based on ‘agreed upon procedures’ as well as controls assurance assessments.
